Grassroots impact in action
We are a community hub, project incubator, and bioregional learning center. Los Higuerones is nestled in Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula, home to 2.5% of Earth's biodiversity.
Our name, Los Higuerones, is inspired by the majestic Higueron trees in the garden, the guardians of the space and our work. Our community is made up of local and foreign community leaders, weavers, land stewards, farmers, artisans, and digital donors.
Founded in 2020, the space and its community has grown into a place that enables locals and visitors to come together, connect, learn and collaborate in an inclusive, participatory way.
Alongside the initiatives that we have started and strengthened, we've hosted dozens of groups from outside the area. With a focus on cultural expression, co-learning and promoting the local resilience, we've co- created examples that the world can learn from, while enforcing the worldwide movement of regeneration.
Our space is a living example of Reuse, Reduce, Refurbish & Upcycle. Come see for yourself what more ecologically responsible/ sustainable living and learning can look like.
